STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Wynne Evans has done a U-turn and admitted he HAS previously had ballroom training.
Wynne, 52, claimed just weeks ago that he has had “no training, ever, ever” when asked about his dance background.
But in a resurfaced YouTube interview, the Go Compare star revealed he was sent to ballroom lessons from the age of seven.
Wynne revealed that he and his brother had weekly dance training and also went to cookery classes thanks to their mum.
He told Sorted Food: “My mother was petrified that we were going to become butch rugby players.
“So she sent me for cookery lessons and ballroom dancing from about the age of seven.
“So, every week we’d go to cookery, outside of school, and every week we’d go dancing. It was just a really natural thing.”
The interview has emerged just two weeks after Wynne insisted to fans that he had never had a dance lesson in his life.
According to Digital Spy, the opera singer had been asked by a fan on Instagram: “Have you had any previous dance training? You are amazing. Welsh love.”
Grimacing, Wynne replied: “I love the fact that you thought you should ask. Erm no training at all, ever, ever.”
This is not the first controversy to rock Wynne since he joined this year’s Strictly Come Dancing lineup.
Wynne is partnered on the BBC show with professional dancer Katya Jones and last month they found themselves in the headlines for the wrong reason.
Katya could be seen moving Wynne’s hand away from her midriff and also snubbed his attempt for a high-five during a live show.
This led viewers to question whether the pair were actually feuding behind the scenes.
However, the duo insisted it was an ‘in-joke’ that had gone wrong and have put on a united front ever since.
Last weekend, which was Icons Week, Strictly judge Anton Du Beke made an unfortunate comment to Wynne and Katya while critiquing their dance.
“I want you to be aware of your spacial awareness to your partner,” Anton told Wynne.
“You get either a bit too close to her or a bit too far away from her, but apart from that, I want you to carry on as you are as your technique is looking marvellous.”

One fan of the show remarked on X: “Anton…most unfortunate comment ever about Wynne’s spacial awareness on relation to his partner.”
Tonight, Wynne and Katya will be performing an American Smooth to Grace Kelly by Mika.
The pair filmed themselves in the rehearsal studio as Wynne played the iconic song on the piano and Katya happily sang along.
