Now two proud domestic records are on the line at Hampden and they can’t both reach the Premier Sports Cup Final – so something HAS to give.

The top two sides in the Scottish premiership raise the curtain on a perfectly poised weekend of cup action – with the top four teams in the country all involved.

Swedish boss Thelin’s incredible reign at Pittodrie even took in a 2-2 draw at Celtic Park on his last trip to Glasgow.

And Brendan Rodgers hailed a ‘very good result’ for the Dons when they took three points from his Old Firm rivals Rangers on Wednesday.

But while they can barely be separated in the league standings, there must be a winner at Hampden, even if it takes penalty kicks to split the sides.

Celtic’s injury list has cleared up with Adam Idah, Nicolas Kuhn and captain Callum McGregor all available.

Aberdeen are riding the crest of a wave after an exhilarating TV win over Rangers – who play in the other semi-final against Motherwell on Sunday.

It’s sure to be a cup cracker between two teams at the very top of their game – and it has a slightly different kick-off from usual too.

Team news

Celtic WILL have captain Callum McGregor back in their ranks for the big game.

The skipper missed the win over Dundee in midweek with an adductor issue and sat out against Motherwell last weekend too.

There is also good news for Adam Idah who was chopped down late in that league win and faced days in a protective boot while his ankle injury was assessed.

The Irish striker is back in contention – and so too is Nicholas Kuhn.

Unbeaten Aberdeen will still be without long-term injury victim Pape Habib Gueye.

Kevin Nisbet was close to featuring against Rangers and could come into the reckoning at Hampden.
