ANDY HALLIDAY fired his team ahead at Hampden – then refused to celebrate in front of his old fans.
The former Rangers midfielder, 33, gave Motherwell a shock early lead at the national stadium after getting on the end of Steve Seddon cross in the box.
He was the hero in Motherwell‘s ranks but in turn left his boyhood club trailing at the break.
However, a section of Rangers fans were HAPPY the midfielder scored the opener in the tie.
And some have even THANKED Halliday for breaking the deadlock.
That’s because they reckon under-fire Philippe Clement will face the sack if they fail to meet Celtic in the final of the competition next month.

Pressure is mounting on the Rangers gaffer, and many believe a defeat at Hampden would spell the end of his Ibrox reign.
And for those who are wanting an immediate change in the dugout, they were delighted to see the 33-year-old hit the back of the net.
Writing on social media, one fan said: “Andy Halliday what a boy, taking matters into his own hands to get Clement out.”
Another commented: “Halliday doing what we all want trying to get Clement sacked.”
Someone else added: “Thank you Halliday. he knows his goal could boot Clement out the door.”
While another said: “Halliday taking one for the the team to get rid of Phil.”
Despite breaking the deadlock against one of Glasgow‘s big two, many neutrals were disappointed with the midfielder after his goal.
Most were left stunned by his reaction to his semi0-final goal, with some branding the lack of celebration “embarrasing”.
One punter insisted: “Only in Scottish Football do you have a player like that apologising for scoring for his team in national cup semi final.”
Another puzzled fan said: “Can’t believe Halliday didn’t even celebrate a semi final goal.”
A third pointed out: “Kettlewell should remind Halliday he no longer plays for Rangers. celebrate with your teammates.”
“Halliday not celebrating a goal in the semi-final is actually embarrassing.”
