A Massachusetts woman is facing a DUI charge for driving the wrong way on Interstate 695 in Killingly on Saturday.
Just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, Troop D in Danielson began receiving reports of a wrong-way driver in a black Dodge Durango traveling westbound in the I-695 eastbound lanes in the area of Exit 1 in Killingly, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Troopers quickly located and stopped the Dodge just east of Exit 1 on I-695, state police said.
According to state police, the driver, identified as 23-year-old Johanna Schulz of Dover, Massachusetts, was “exhibiting signs of impairment and was asked to perform the standardized field sobriety tests,” which state police said she agreed to.
State police allege that Schulz failed to perform the tests to standard and was arrested. She was transported to Troop D where she was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
Schulz was released from custody on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Danielson Superior Court on Oct. 24, according to state police.
