A woman is dead following a head-on, rollover crash in Newington on Tuesday evening.
The crash was reported in the area of East Cedar Street, east of Patricia Genova Drive, where emergency crews responded just before 8:15 p.m. and found that one of the drivers was trapped in her vehicle, according to Sgt. Matthew J. D’Esposito of the Newington Police Department.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Newington Volunteer Fire Department, D’Esposito said. She was then taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
D’Esposito said the victim’s name is being withheld until her family has been notified.
According to D’Esposito, the collision involved two vehicles striking each other head-on, leading to one of them rolling over.
The other driver involved suffered minor injuries. He was taken to an area hospital.
The Mid State Accident Reconstruction Squad is investigating the collision.
