After an intense summer of discussions, Warner Bros. decided to go ahead with Tenet’s release, but not without a catch. The studio’s top executives, including former CEO Ann Sarnoff and ex-motion picture chairman Toby Emmerich, wanted Nolan to forgo certain fees (see Variety). But make no mistake, Nolan is no ordinary director. With two films, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, each crossing the billion-dollar mark, he’s proven time & again that he knows how to capture audiences’ attention.
What will this new film entail? Although details are still closely held, it’s rumored that Matt Damon is in talks to land a leading role. This project will see him reuniting with Nolan, as they’ve previously joined forces on Interstellar and Oppenheimer.
Furthermore, insiders have spilled the beans that the film is slated for an IMAX release on July 17, 2026.
