Week 8 Coastal Alabama Player of the Week turned in all-around effort

The Week 8 Cunningham Bounds Player of the Week had a huge effort in all three phases of the game in his team’s come-from-behind win last week.

Eli Owens of Citronelle had a touchdown run, an interception and a 97-yard kickoff return for a score as the Wildcats edged B.C. Rain 22-21. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound senior cornerback/wideout had 58 yards rushing, a pass breakup and 3 tackles in the win.

Owens earned 1,834 of the 4,522 votes cast in the AL.com poll, good for 41 percent. Owens is the first player from Citronelle to finish first in the survey this season.

Running back Noah Moss of St. Michael was second in the voting with 20 percent of the total – 914 votes. The 6-1, 190-pound junior ran for 225 yards on 33 carries and had four receptions for 70 yards as the Class 4A No. 7 Cardinals won 45-35 at Mobile Christian in a Region 1 game.

McGill-Toolen running back Ladarien Miller was third in the survey with 15 percent of the total. Miller, a 5-11, 185-pound sophomore, ran for 150 yards with a pair of touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets beat Blount 24-6.

Watch for the weekly nominees on Sundays this fall and be sure to cast your vote each week.
