He started by mentioning how the singer’s passing has left him completely destroyed. Being a figure that Tomlinson looked up to, the Bigger Than Me singer talked about how big of an impact Payne has had in his life.
I feel beyond lucky to have had you in my life but I’m really struggling with the idea of saying goodbye. I’m so grateful that we got even closer since the band, speaking on the phone for hours , reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I’d have with you for life. I would have loved to share the stage with you again but it wasn’t to be.
Looking back to the time they first met, when they were touring as One Direction, and all the time they have spent together, Tomlinson stated that Payne was the most important part of the band. He then addressed the late singer directly, talking about how lucky he was to have experienced a major chunk of their lives together.
I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was.
Payne has a seven-year-old son with his former partner, Cheryl Cole. Speaking about Bear, Tomlinson promised the late singer that if his child even needed him, he would be there for him as the best uncle that he could be. The singer took it a step further, stating that he would tell Payne’s son about how great his father was, telling him stories about their time together.
