Exciting Casting Rumor About Monkey D. Dragon Might Just be True

The second season of Netflix’s One Piece live-action is already in the production phase, but fans are still wondering about the casting of some major characters in the upcoming series. Although many important characters like Vivi, Nico Robin, and Crocodile have been cast, there are still a few left who are going to have a significant impact on the narrative of season 2.

One of them is Monkey D. Dragon, Luffy’s father. Monkey D. Dragon is one of the most crucial characters in the entire One Piece series, as he is the commander-in-chief of the revolutionary army. While he has a small appearance in the Alabasta saga, his character holds a lot of importance for the upcoming season.

Thus, fans are eager to find out who will play Dragon’s role in One Piece live-action season 2. And while fans wait for the official announcement, a rumor about a certain actor playing Dragon has been going viral on the internet. This actor is none other than Rigo Sanchez, popularly known for his roles in Outer Banks and Diggstown.

Monkey D. Dragon’s Importance in One Piece Live-Action Season 2

Although the second season of Netflix’s One Piece live-action will majorly follow the story from the Alabasta Saga, it will also have the last arc from the East Blue Saga called the Loguetown arc. The Loguetown arc is particularly important because it is the birthplace of Gol D. Roger, and it is also the place where he was executed.

The Loguetown arc also marks the first appearance of Monkey D. Dragon as he saves his son from the clutches of Captain Smoker. It introduces fans to Dragon’s character and how he is going to bring a big change in the One Piece narrative later on. Thus, including him in the second season of One Piece live-action is incredibly significant.

A different aspect that makes Dragon’s involvement in One Piece Live-action Season 2 significant is that he purportedly saves Luffy from execution at the hands of Buggy. This is one of the biggest mysteries in One Piece, and hopefully, the live-action adaptation might be able to shed some light on it.

Rigo Sanchez Rumored To Play The Role of Monkey D. Dragon

According to a recent rumor, Rigo Sanchez is most likely to play the role of Monkey D. Dragon in One Piece. The rumor erupted from the fact that he added the official account of @onepiecenetflix in his bio on Instagram.

Not only that, he is also promoting the upcoming second season, but there has been no official confirmation about him joining the cast.

This probably means that he is assigned a big role in the upcoming series, and it will be announced just before the series gets a release date, just like other important characters. As of now the only important character who is left to be assigned is Monkey D. Dragon, and his profile fits perfectly for the role.

Initially, Dean Damonse was reported to play the role of Dragon, but it was never confirmed by the creators of One Piece live-action. Thus, there is no confirmation about who will be joining the second season of One Piece live-action season 2, but Sanchez feels like a better choice for the role of Dragon.

One Piece live-action is available to watch on Netflix.
