Nick Saban delivers rousing speech; ‘GameDay’ crowd at Texas approves

Nick Saban still has it.

The former coach-turned-college football analyst gave a rousing speech Saturday during ESPN’s “College Game” aimed at all teams still vying for the College Football Playoffs.

“About this time during the season if you were undefeated – and we were a few times – I would always give a ‘nothing’ speech. I’d walk up in front of the player and say:

“If you wake up in the morning and you feel entitled, what would that get you?” Saban asked.

The answer is, of course, nothing.

“If you think someone owes you something, what you would get?”

Nothing.

“If you lose your discipline and your work ethic, what would that get you?”

Nothing.

“If you failed to prepare and pay attention to detail, what would that get you?”

Nothing.

To summarize, Saban explained, “nothing is more important than staying focused on being the best that you can be no matter what you choose to do.”

That, he said, would be his speech.
