The Most Disgusting Boss Design in Gaming History isn’t from Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Soulsborne Universe

FromSoftware and president Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Soulsborne games are synonymous with challenging gameplay and extreme boss fights. These games practically test players on how they’ve perfected their character’s builds and how strong they can slash, stab, and smite everything in their path.

Another aspect of Miyazaki’s games is the enemy designs, especially for bosses. FromSoftware wants their game bosses to stand out from regular foes, and they have often gone the unpleasant route to make them as gross as possible. However, the Soulsborne bosses are nothing compared to what we see in Silent Hill 2 Remake, which genuinely brings disgusting boss designs to the next level.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Must Learn From Silent Hill 2 Remake

After months of anticipation, Silent Hill 2 Remake is officially out, and horror fans, both new and old, are making their way through James Sunderland’s intense adventure. The Remake features all bosses from the original Silent Hill, rebuilt with modern graphics engines, including the amalgamation of a human and mattress that flounders around, Abstract Daddy.

Abstract Daddy is truly pure nightmare fuel and the most disturbing boss that’s ever been presented in a game. This is a terrifying creature due to its distorted human forms and unsettling behavior that could spook anyone if they even glance at it once.

Abstract Daddy’s design gets even worse when you consider its tragic background. This boss is supposed to be the manifestation of sexual abuse and trauma that Angela had to go through because of her father. Its design is based on two figures on a bed frame in a sexual.

The entire encounter with this boss also takes part in the scariest parts of the map and is through several phases. You’ll constantly be on your toes to escape from Abstract Daddy and attempt to fight it back for a very long time.

It’s obviously not for the weak heart, and Abstract Daddy helps make Silent Hill 2 Remake as horrifying as it is. It’s truly time for Hidetaka Miyazaki to take a look at this incredible game and learn how to truly bring a terrifying in-game boss.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is a True Masterpiece

Since its release on October 8th, 2024, Silent Hill 2 Remake has gone on to impress everyone, and concerns regarding its initial reveal have been dismissed. Both critics and fans have praised the various design choices in the game and revamped various puzzles.

The game’s combat has proven to be quite difficult, right there with Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games, and the characters are relatable and realistic despite the significant visual differences to the original. The game has been received well on Steam as well.

The release of the game has taught everyone a lesson that judging a video game prematurely can be a bad choice. It’s crucial to wait for the full release before making decisions. Although developer Bloober did bring changes to the title based on feedback, there’s still a lot to be learned in waiting before passing judgments.

Terrifying than ever before due to its boss designs, atmosphere, and environment, Silent Hill 2 Remake is truly the perfect horror game that still honors the original.

With that said, do you think Hidetaka Miyazaki can topple Silent Hill 2 Remake‘s boss designs with his upcoming project? Let us know in the comments below!
