In the world of reality television, certain unscripted moments manage to shock and capture the audience completely off guard. Such was the case of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul. The show focuses on the day-to-day lives of eight Utah-based TikTok influencers dubbed “MomTok.”
While initially these were just videos and garnered millions of likes and comments, one revelation by Frankie Paul was enough to bring this fame crashing down. This would definitely be one of many controversies that she’s had over the years, not to forget her domestic violence case.
While this surely made headlines, it’s nothing compared to the worst scandal on reality television that proved fatal for one.
Taylor Frankie Paul and Her Scandal That Shocked Everyone
Taylor Frankie Paul knows how to stay in the headlines but for all the wrong reasons. A prominent figure in the reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Paul stirred a major scandal in 2022. What started as a wholesome TikTok community was soon marred in controversy when she decided to discuss her experiences with “soft swinging.”
But this was just the start of her troubles, and in 2023 her life took a different turn when she was arrested in Herriman, Utah, on misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, assault, and domestic violence. That too in the presence of a child, with the authorities revealing major details about the same. The police claimed that she had thrown a number of items at her boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, including a wooden playset, a metal barstool, and a phone.
The bar stool is also said to have hit her child, who was sitting on the nearby couch. Following this altercation, Paul took a month-long hiatus from social media but soon returned with a video giving fans an update about her life. In August of 2023, she entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault, which mentioned that she would undergo substance as well as domestic violence evaluations.
Since this scandal, she has gone on record to detail how this situation completely changed her outlook on life and family. But while this would definitely be a huge reality TV scandal, it doesn’t come close to what happened with Jasmine Fiore.
Ryan Jenkins Obsession Proves to Be Fatal for His Wife Jasmine Fiore
The year 2009 was a dark one for reality television, as Ryan Jenkins, a participant in Megan Wants a Millionaire and I Love Money 3, killed his wife, Jasmine Fiore. He used to get in touch with her constantly during his stint on Love Money 3, with the fixation that his earnings would secure their future. This was a huge red flag for the show’s producers. They even observed his obsessive behavior was a bit too much.
While they initially thought this was amusing, soon this obsession turned into something that many had not thought about. After her killing, he fled, which also brought his dark past out in the open, which was apparently overlooked during his VH1 background checks.
Following this, VH1 canceled both Megan Wants a Millionaire and I Love Money 3 due to this scandal. In the same year, Jenkins was also found dead in a British Columbia hotel. This was surely one of those cases that truly had the power to shake up the entire reality television industry.
