Without hesitation. The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puente, has directly targeted the Supreme Court to accuse that a political strategy is being followed within the judges. He stated this bluntly in an interview on TVE Catalonia this Monday in which Puente encouraged people to read the report of the chief prosecutor before the Constitutional Court, Pedro Crespo, in which in 49 pages he defends that the question of unconstitutionality against the amnesty law that The Supreme Court has filed either it is not admitted or the underlying arguments are rejected. The prosecutor’s report “contains such a cascade of basic legal arguments that question the actions of the Supreme Court “We are really legitimized to think that here there is a political strategy that is being followed (sic) in the judicial field,” said Puente, who has described that and other judicial decisions as “very difficult to understand.” The high court took in July the amnesty law before the Constitutional Court for understanding that it was “arbitrary”, “discriminatory” and contrary to equality. In its argument, the prosecution assures that “arguments of a purely ideological and political nature” are used in this appeal from the Supreme Court.
“Is there any doubt that this is happening in our country?” Puente responded to the question of whether he did not consider it “very serious that there may be judges who are helping the PP in its political strategy of overthrowing the Government.”
In his attack against the Supreme Court, Puente has also referred to to the opening of a case by the high court of the state attorney general as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of revealing secrets. “Here they wanted to sit the State Attorney General before a court, they wanted to charge him,” he assured. And he has attributed that intention without leaving any doubt to “the same people who appeal the amnesty law with arguments that are legally unsustainable.” Puente has argued that there are “reports from the UCO (Central Operational Unit of the Civil Guard) that are constantly leaked to the media and there is no judicial case open for that,” in line with what Álvaro García Ortiz He stated in an interview the same day he learned that he had been indicted. “Is it really acceptable that the first time an attempt is made to prosecute a State Attorney General is for a leak of some emails that affect a man who has defrauded the Treasury because he lives with the president of the Community of Madrid?”, Puente has asked himself, and has called the resulting political situation “very serious.” “I am not willing to remain silent no matter how much I am part of the Government,” insisted one of the voices of the Government that provokes the most controversy with its statements. “Precisely because I am part of the Government I have to raise my voice.
