In an interview on the Cope networkthe conservative leader has justified his rejection to the meeting on the government proposal to design a unique financing for Catalonia – which he has called a “great coupon” and a “great concert” -, in addition to two interventions by Sánchez focused on the case that affects the baroness’ partner, the businessman Alberto González Amadorinvestigated along with four other people by the alleged commission of two crimes of tax fraud. Ayuso has reduced this controversy to “an inspection with the Treasury” and has stated that the case has reached the courts because it affects her boyfriend, despite the fact that the amount allegedly defrauded (more than 350,000 euros) exceeds what is considered a tax crime ( from 120,000 euros). “I will go to the Conference of Presidents,” Ayuso said about an appointment that is beginning to be prepared this Monday with a committee of representatives from all the regions in which Madrid will be represented through the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín. However, the conservative leader will arrive at that appointment after expressing herself in the harshest terms to explain her resignation from attending La Moncloa this Friday.
“I understand that there are regional presidents who have a series of problems,” he said after knowing the discomfort of other regional presidents of the PP, who have responded to Sánchez’s call. “But just as I understand and have always respected that everyone makes the decision they believe, I think this is the best for Spain,” he concluded. “(We must) stop now, stop dead and say I am not going to continue normalizing and acting as if nothing is happening here because very serious things are happening,” he continued. “There is a more than obvious strategy to go against everything that gives us meaning as a nation (…) and, of course, against Madrid as well,” he said. “We have a Government that is going against Spain, that is making agreements with those who hate Spain and they are taking money from all of us Spaniards so that they can stay there,” he added.
And he concluded his criticism: “If that is not the great corruption and the great deterioration… then I do not want to be part of that meeting that is not to see how we are doing.” Although Ayuso has ruled out that her sit-in with Sánchez has a personal component, she has also justified her decision with two interventions by Sánchez that affect her partner, who is being investigated for the alleged commission of two crimes of tax fraud.

The case is in court, while the parties negotiate a conformity agreement that would foreseeably imply, if reached, that the person under investigation would acknowledge the crimes, pay a fine with a surcharge and thus avoid a possible prison sentence.
González Amador, according to Treasury investigators, declared expenses that his company never had for almost 1.8 million euros, which allowed him to avoid paying 155,000 euros in 2020 and 195,000 euros in 2021. When the businessman wanted to “regularize” his situation, a decision that Ayuso referred to with his “he wanted to pay and paid,” his advisors argued that this could be “misunderstood”since it was already being investigated.
Finally, the commission agent’s lawyers sent by email on February 2 to the Economic Crimes Prosecutor’s Office a proposal of compliance where, in exchange for accepting the two tax crimes and paying a fine, they would reduce his sentence and avoid prison. “Certainly, two crimes have been committed against the Public Treasury,” González Amador’s representatives wrote in that communication.
