California company opens $60 million Alabama facility, to hire 300

Sierra Pacific Industries has opened its new $60 million Phenix City manufacturing facility.

The 610,000-square-foot plant is projected to bring 300 jobs focused on producing high-end windows and doors within two years, company officials said.

The converted former textile mill will also serve as the California-based company’s Southeastern hub and meet rising demand in the residential and commercial sectors.

At a Tuesday ribbon-cutting ceremony, Gov. Kay Ivey said Sierra Pacific had given “a vote of confidence in Alabama’s economy and in our people.”

“Their investment not only strengthens Phenix City but also continues to build Alabama’s reputation as a premier place for business and innovation,” Ivey said.

Sierra Pacific Industries CEO Mark Emmerson said the Phenix City facility will become the “flagship of our Windows division.”

Emmerson said the facility now employs 43, with the headcount expected to grow to 100 by mid-2026. It will reach 300 workers in 2026 and could go as high as 500 in the next few years.
