Police seize illegal loaded Glock during CT traffic stop

A loaded gun with an altered serial number was seized during a traffic stop in Bridgeport on Tuesday night.

The stop occurred in the overnight hours after officers spotted a motor vehicle violation and pulled over 26-year-old Eric Guillermo Goicochea of Manchester, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

Police said they found an illegal gun with an altered serial number during the stop before discovering that Goicochea did not have a pistol permit. According to police, the vehicle was unregistered and had a license plate belonging to another car.

Officers seized the loaded Glock as well as two loaded magazines.

Goicochea was arrested on charges of illegal possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, illegal alteration of a firearm, failure to properly store a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, operating a vehicle under suspension, falsifying a marker/license plate, operating a vehicle without insurance and failure to obey a stop sign.

Goicochea is free on a $75,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court on Nov. 1.
