The Big Bang Theory can easily be a fan favorite with its sarcasm-filled and science-infused storylines. The beloved sitcom ruled the CBS screens from 2007 to 2019 and focused on four socially awkward scientists and their quirky neighbor Penny. The fans of the sitcom know almost everything about their favorite stars. However, their height has always been a point of discussion amongst the viewers.
While Jim Parsons, as part of the main cast, can easily give others a height complex, there are other characters who are even taller than he is. Let’s take a closer look at the cast of the show and assess each character’s height, from the shortest to the tallest.
Melissa Rauch
Melissa Rauch entered the show in its third season and quickly became a fan favorite with her portrayal of Bernadette. Apart from her squeaky little voice, she’s also the smallest among the entire cast at just 4’11”. But despite her height, her character is known to have a bold personality, and in reality, Rauch sounds nothing like her character. After the show ended in 2019, she got on board in the reboot of Night Court as a judge.
Sara Gilbert
Sara Gilbert brought Leslie Winkle to life, a character who was known for her sharp comebacks and constant banter with Sheldon. At 5’3″ she played a huge role in Leonard’s storyline in the initial seasons. After the show, the actress went back to the role of Darlene in The Conners. Interestingly, in this project she also reunited with her Big Bang co-star Johnny Galecki, who played David.
Aarti Mann
Aarti Mann played Raj’s sister Priya on the show and also had an on-again/off-again relationship with Leonard. Like Gilbert, she too stands at 5’3″ and went on to star in The Donor Party and The Recruit after her stint in The Big Bang Theory.
Simon Helberg
While Rauch was the shortest among the female cast members, her on-screen husband is the shortest in the male category. Simon Helberg played Howard Wolowitz on the show and has a height of 5’4″. Throughout the show, the character was often teased for not having a PhD and an incredibly close relationship with his mother. Interestingly, his mother was voiced by Carol Ann Susi and her height was 5’0″.
While the actress never appeared on screen, her voice kept the audience entertained for several seasons. Sadly, Ann Susi passed away in 2014, and the sitcom honored her by including a storyline in which Howard’s mother dies as well. After Big Bang, Helberg went on to appear in Spade Oddity and Poker Face.
Mayim Bialik
Mayim Bialik brought the socially awkward neuroscientist and Harp enthusiast Amy Farrah Fowler to life. She is also among the shortest in the main cast, just after Rauch with a height of 5’4″. Throughout the series, fans witness the character bringing about several positive changes in Sheldon, who ironically doesn’t like change.
In reality, she also has a PhD in neuroscience making her more similar to her character than the rest of the cast. After the show, Bialik also voiced her Amy in Young Sheldon, as well as she also temporarily hosted Jeopardy! after the death of Alex Trebek.
Johnny Galecki
The Big Bang Theory focused heavily on the friendship of Leonard and Sheldon as well as their personal lives. And all the Big Bang fans would attest to the fact that Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki played these characters to perfection. Galecki brought Leonard Hofstadter to life and stands at 5’5″ in height.

Kaley Cuoco
Kaley Cuoco brought the quirky Penny to life and stands at 5’6″ in height. Thus, making her an inch taller than her on-screen love interest Leonard. After The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco got on board The Flight Attendant and has also won several awards for the same. Apart from this she also voiced Harley Quinn in the HBO Max animated series of the same name.
Kunal Nayyar
Kunal Nayyar played Rajesh Koothrappali aka Raj in the hit sitcom and stands at 5’7″ in height. During the entire run of the show, Raj dates several women but due to his own doings, he was also the only character who did not end up with anybody. After the show, Nayyar participated in Suspicion and The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. Interestingly, his love interest on the show Dr. Emily Sweeny also stands tall at 5’7″ and dated Raj from seasons 7 to 10.
Courtney Henggeler
Courtney Henggeler plays Sheldon Cooper’s twin sister Missy on the show and has a height of 5’9″. The actress has made several appearances on the show and is definitely more intelligent than she seems. She did not participate in the spin-off Young Sheldon as Missy is portrayed as a teenager there. Interestingly, both the shows have portrayed her character in different ways.
For instance, in Young Sheldon, she has been showcased as someone who is smart and strong. And in Big Bang Sheldon has on several occasions made remarks on how his siblings are “mouth breathing idiots.”
Kevin Sussman
Kevin Sussman played the socially awkward character Stuart in the show and had a height of 5’9″. Throughout the show, fans spotted the character always trying to enter the main gang. But the later seasons brought in more screen time for Sussman when he shifted at Howard’s place to take care of his mother Debbie.
While their relationship was weird in so many ways, it also added more value to Howard’s storyline. Along with Sussman, even Josh Ross Bowie who plays Sheldon’s arch nemesis Barry also has a height of 5’9″.
Lauren Lapkus
Lauren Lapkus played the role of Stuart’s love interest Denise in the show and was an inch taller than her on-screen boyfriend. She had a height of 5’10” and was among the tallest female cast members on the show. Apart from her stint in Big Bang, she is also known for her roles in projects like Wrong Missy and A Million Little Things.
Will Wheaton
Will Wheaton and Sheldon Cooper had a very interesting history on the show. Wheaton played the fictionalized version of himself on the show and stands at 5’11” in height.
Jim Parsons
Jim Parsons played the know-it-all Sheldon Cooper on the show and was also the tallest among the main cast with a height of 6’1″. He is also nine inches taller than his love interests on the show Bialik. While was the main reason why Big Bang ended in the first place, after which he also participated in other projects. For instance, he got on board Hidden Figures and The Boys in the Band, as well as narrated the spin-off Young Sheldon.
Jerry O’Connell
Just like Sheldon, even his siblings are not far behind when it comes to height. Jerry O’Connell played Sheldon’s elder brother Georgie on the show and stands at 6’2″ in terms of height. Apart from his Big Bang appearance, O’Connell has a slew of projects to his name such as Jerry Maguire and Sliders to name a few. He also collaborated with Wilk Wheaton in the classic Stand By Me.
Brian Thomas Smith
Thomas Smith plays Penny’s no-so-smart but rich ex-boyfriend Zack in The Big Bang Theory. Apart from his very limited storyline, the actor is also the second tallest when it comes to height and stands at 6’3″. After his stint on TBBT, he has also appeared in shows like The Neighborhood and NCIS.
Brian Posehn
Brian Posehn plays geologist Bert Kibber in the show and is also the tallest at a height of 6’7″. This demeanor of his is in complete contrast to his gentle personality on the show, making him a beloved part of the sitcom. Apart from his Big Bang role, he’s also famous in the standup comedy world and is also inclined towards music as well.
