Northwest Austin shopping center set for revamp; World Market relocating

AUSTIN (Austin Business Journal) — A makeover is in the works for Arboretum Crossing, a 20-acre retail center in a prime northwest Austin location just minutes from The Domain. And like The Domain — known as Austin’s second downtown — this land could go sky-high.

“We are in the midst of redevelopment plans,” said Rob Hauck, regional manager for California-based Stockdale Capital Partners, which owns Arboretum Crossing.

The retail center at 9333 Research Blvd. has become increasingly idle as tenants have left, and two more big ones are preparing to follow suit — World Market and Ferguson. In a city hungry for retail space — Austin’s retail occupancy rate is 97%, and even less large spaces are available — Arboretum Crossing hasn’t been inking any lease deals for its existing vacancies.
