Former Auburn lineman back where he started in the NFL

Jack Driscoll is back where he spent the first four seasons of his NFL career – the Philadelphia Eagles’ active roster.

The NFL team announced on Wednesday that it had signed the former Auburn offensive tackle from its practice squad for the 53-man active roster.

Driscoll joined Philadelphia as a fourth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Over the next four seasons, Driscoll served primarily as the backup to right tackle Lane Johnson, a five-time Pro Bowler. In 2023, all but eight of Driscoll’s 172 offensive snaps came in three games when Johnson was dealing with injuries. Driscoll made four starts in 2020, one in 2021, two in 2022 and one in 2023 at right tackle. He also started eight games at right guard in 2021 and one at left tackle in 2022 while appearing in 54 regular-season and four playoff games.

Driscoll left Philadelphia in free agency on March 18, when he signed a one-year, $1.79 million contract that included a $400,000 signing bonus and $900,000 of guaranteed money with the Miami Dolphins.

But on Aug. 28, after surviving the preseason-to-regular-season cut with Miami, Driscoll was released by the Dolphins, who had been awarded former Park Crossing High School standout Grant DuBose on waivers and needed to create a roster spot for the wide receiver.

The Eagles signed Driscoll for their practice squad on Sept. 3.
