Alabama woman accused of shooting parents, killing father, pleads not guilty

Charity Matthews has plead not guilty to all charges after being charged in two separate shootings including one that lead to her father’s death.

According to court records Matthews plead not guilty to charges of murder, reckless endangerment, and two counts of attempted murder.

On Sunday, Mobile police were called to investigate a shooting at the 1400 block of Avonlea Court. Matthews’ mother was found with grave injuries but her father was dead. Police allege that Matthews then fled the scene with her two children.

Police found Matthews at a hotel with her two children early Monday morning.

Matthews is also alleged to have shot a man Saturday night in the 2100 block of Height Street. The victim in that shooting was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries according to a police statement.

An alleged motive for the shootings ha not be given as they are currently under investigation.
