Apple TV+ brought a new sci-fi psychological thriller show, Severance in 2022 which became a smash hit. The show featured a fictional corporation Lumon Industries where an employee Mark Scout (portrayed by Adam Scott) undergoes a shady memory transition.
The dystopian series created by Dan Erickson gained popularity because of its peculiar plot and stellar cast which included Patricia Arquette. Among news of the show’s new season fans should look at what The Act actress revealed earlier about her character. Harmony Cobel is a hard character to portray and Arquette thinks so too.
A character full of mysteries: The Unlikable one
Severance explored the experiences of Mark Scout as he tried to unravel the dark truth about his company, Lumon Industries. The character agreed to a sketchy severance program where his work memories were separated from his non-work ones in a horrifyingly permanent procedure.
Played by Adam Scott, the character undergoes the path of leading others like him as they try to unmask the conspiracies around them. Patricia Arquette portrayed the role of Harmony Cobel, Scott’s cold-hearted and unhinged boss.
The actress spoke to Looper in 2022 about the complexities that arose while playing the closed-off antagonist. The True Romance actress confessed that even she could not put a finger on what went through Harmony’s mind when she was first offered the script.
However, the experienced artist put her faith in the show’s directors Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle, and said yes to the role. Her performance as the elusive boss who doubled as Mrs. Selvig, Scott’s neighbor, awed the audience and critics.
Season 2 chaos and the new crew: What’s next?
The show’s next season was announced to be released on 17th January 2025, almost three years since the series was first launched. Fans were excited for the future of the thriller and the new trailer heightened that excitement further.
A glimpse into the trailer revealed Mark facing Seth Milchick (portrayed by Tramell Tillman), the severed floor supervisor. He then goes on to meet his colleagues who are shockingly comprised of new faces.
Bob Balaban, Alia Shawkat, and Stefano Carannante will be joining the Lumon crew in the upcoming season. Mark’s old gang seems to be nowhere in sight and a shot with Zach Cherry’s Dylan George might hint at the use of doppelgangers in the new season.
Arquette’s Harmony won the battle in the last season by uncovering the ‘innies”s mutiny and she must have been rewarded. A scene from the trailer showcased her sitting in some sort of a boardroom, indicating her elevating power. John Turturro’s character might also be further explored in the upcoming arc, as Irving’s state is referenced multiple times.
Severance is currently available to watch on Apple TV+.
