The rapper revealed in an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she had recently begun watching the popular series for the first time and has been obsessed with it.
The rapper has been vocal about her obsessions with shows and films in the past. Megan Thee Stallion mentioned earlier that she was a huge Stranger Things fan and this time the HBO romantic comedy seems to have taken the cake. She also seems to have some strong opinions on the fan-favorite character Samantha.
Megan Thee Stallion Is Obsessed With Sex And The City
Few shows have had the lasting impact that HBO’s Sex and the City did. Beginning in the late ‘90s and defining the early 2000s, the rom-com series was based on a popular column in The New York Observer, which was later adapted into a book. The show lasted six seasons, two films, and a revival series is currently streaming on Max.
While the whole world had guessed the character their personality suited, rapper Megan Thee Stallion seemed to be late to the party. In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the WAP singer revealed that she had been obsessed with the show and complained that no one had told her it was so good.
Saying that she first came across it after seeing photos of protagonist Sarah Jessica Parker’s outfits in the show, Megan mentioned to Fallon,
So I started watching the show and I’m like, I cannot look away. This is the best thing! I’m watching it while I’m working out, I’m watching it while I’m in glam, I’m watching it when I don’t have nothing else to do, and I’m a busy girl. I’m like squeezing Sex and the City in there. And I’m like asking everybody, ‘Have you seen Sex and the City?’
The singer also mentioned that she has yet to watch the spinoff movies and the revival series And Just Like That…
Megan Thee Stallion Was Not A Fan Of Samantha Jones Initially
While it had its flaws, Sex and the City was best known for its portrayal of female friendships and depicting the lives of women in their 30s and 40s living in Manhattan. One of the most popular characters in the series was Samantha Jones. Played by Kim Cattrall, Samantha was known for her s*x-positive personality and string of flings.
While Megan Thee Stallion called Kristin Davis’ Charlotte York as her bestie, the singer reportedly had a strong opinion of Samantha initially. However, she said to Jimmy Fallon, she slowly began to relate to the character the most. She said,
When Sex and the City first started for me, I said, ‘Oh, I hate this character.’ Like why are y’all making her like, ‘oh my God, s*x is like the ruler of my life’? And it’s like, ‘I’m just so desperate’. I was like, ‘this is horrible, this is a horrible character.’
Megan went on to say that she then began to like Samantha as she had never let a man rule her life and instead made the men run behind her.
