On Wednesday night, the leadership of Más Madrid asked Sumar, the coalition of which it is a part in the Congress of Deputies, for the minutes of Íñigo Errejón. The party leadership had already met on Monday, just to know the anonymous accusations published on the social network Instagram for sexist violenceaccording to sources from the Madrid training. According to these sources, the management of Más Madrid held a meeting then to “assess the situation” and “the political responsibility” that it had as an organization in the face of these accusations.
The party led by Mónica García subsequently contacted Errejón himself, these sources explain. This, as they say, “confirmed the facts”, which is why, they say, the decision was made to ask Yolanda Díaz herself to demand the minutes from Íñigo Errejón. Although he had been a co-founder of Más Madrid – in addition to Podemos and Más País – the 41-year-old politician’s relations with that party were deteriorated and very diluted.
Errejón left the minutes this afternoon, when has spread a letter through his Twitter account to explain the reasons for his resignation. The 40-year-old politician and political scientist from Madrid has stated that he needs to move away from the “demands” and “rhythms” of the political front line. “I have been working on a personal process and psychological support for some time,” he points out. And he added that politics “generates a toxic subjectivity that in the case of men, patriarchy multiplies, with co-workers, with organizational colleagues, with emotional relationships and even with oneself.”
