During their 15-year stay on the CW’s Supernatural, which popped off after reaching the halfway mark and became one of the longest-running WB shows, the Winchester brothers fought a plethora of demonic entities. Jared Padalecki, who starred as Dean’s younger brother, Sam Winchester, developed a superstitious habit following his involvement in the show.
Although his commitment to the Eric Kripke-led show paid off substantially, as it pushed him to stardom, the actor wasn’t able to completely detach himself from the Supernatural setting off-camera.
Jared Padalecki’s Response to Lights Flickering Is Completely on Brand for Sam Winchester
While Padalecki isn’t exactly a believer in the supernatural, as he’s “very much a creature of what I see”, the actor didn’t completely brush off the possibility, stressing “it’s a big world and big universe”. Moreover, Jared Padalecki does have his fair share of strange experiences, which made him go “What was that?”. Even when he’s not his Winchester counterpart, the actor couldn’t help but correlate real-world phenomena with that of the Supernatural, especially the flickering of the lights.
During his viewing of the season 1 finale alongside his parents, the actor recalled that the lights in the room started flickering, and being a Winchester, he couldn’t help but blame it on the demons.
I was watching the first season finale with my parents — and the lights started flickering, and I was like, ‘The demons.’ I just found myself saying that. And I was like, ‘It’s ingrained in me!’
While it’s safe to assume that the disturbance in the lightning was mostly an electrical issue, the actor’s initial response further serves as a testament to his devotion to the world of Supernatural.
Jared Padalecki’s Reunion With His Winchester Sibling Seems Very Likely
Although it has been years since we saw the Winchester brothers together onscreen, with Eric Kripke‘s other hit show inching towards its final stretch, this might not be outside of the realm of possibilities. With the actor seemingly confirming his involvement in The Boys season 5, which isn’t surprising given the showrunner’s previous stance on the subject, a reunion between Jensen Ackles and Padalecki seems likely.
We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today. I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.
With fans elated about The Boys‘ final chapter, hopefully, the Winchester trio, involving Ackles, Padalecki, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will share the screen at some point.
Supernatural is available to stream on Max.
