Marvel Just Made Miles Morales Do the Most Iconic Jojo Move as a Show of Respect

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has spawned tons of meme materials and iconic poses over the years. As wacky as the series’ plot is, it is followed by an even wackier art style. Over the years, many mangakas have paid their respects to the iconic series and finally, it was Marvel who did the same.

Hirohiko Araki is a big fan of Spider-Man, and fans might have known this. But the latest move from Marvel looks like they admire the mangaka no less, and honestly, this is a win-win situation for both Marvel and Jojo fanatics.

Iconic Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Pose was Referenced in Marvel’s Miles Morales: Spider-Man

Volume 25 of Miles Morales: Spide-Man was released on 16th October 2024, and immediately, otakus observed a panel that seemed too familiar to be ignored. The volume shows Miles going berserk due to bloodlust as Black Panther tries to test his limits. Later, he was granted a vibranium suit that would make him much stronger.

In the same volume, the Vulture appears to challenge Morales, leading the two to have a battle. In a full-page panel of the battle, Morales menacingly approaches the Vulture. The pose of Morales as well as the angle from which the panel is drawn, holds extreme similarity to the iconic pose of Jotaro.

In chapter 143 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, Jotaro and DIO are about to have a fight when a panel shows the legendary walking pose of Jotaro as he approaches DIO. Volume 25 of Miles Morales: Spider-Man copies the exact pose and angle. It seems like Cody Ziglar, the writer of the series, has read Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and created the panel to show his respect for the series.

Not all of you might know this, but Spider-Man also had his debut in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. In chapter 170 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, readers get a brief look at the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. As the chapter begins, a passerby tries to shake hands with Spider-Man but then falls when Anasui bumps into his ladder.

Spider-Man didn’t reveal his full appearance in the manga, but what you can see are his hands. You can immediately figure out who it is from the iconic design of his suit. In fact, Hirohiko Araki is a huge Spider-Man fan, and it was proved when he had an interview with Sam Raimi about Spider-Man 2 in 2004.

In the interview, both Araki and Raimi explained that they were fans of each others’ works. Raimi admitted that he was impressed with Araki’s works, and the mangaka was the type to notice small changes in direction. Araki, on the other hand, talked about how he has been a fan of Raimi’s taste in direction.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
