Gamarra: “Sumar knew and covered up what happened to Errejón for a year. “Yolanda Díaz must assume responsibilities”
The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has called on the second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, leader of Sumar, to assume responsibilities, “appear and give explanations” after the resignation of Íñigo Errejón after complaints of abuses and sexist behavior. Gamarra has wondered why, if there was news about the matter “for more than a year, “it was covered up.”
“The question is who knew it and why they covered it up,” said Gamarra, in an interview on Telecinco. In their matches, in Mas Madrid and in Sumar, this was known and was covered up. Yolanda Díaz must assume political responsibilities, appear and give explanations,” because, she continued, not only did she not denounce him, but she made him parliamentary spokesperson, “she promotes him in politics.” Therefore, he insisted, “the explanations have to be given by their groups, Sumar and Más Madrid.”
Gamarra has also referred to the letter in which Errejón announced his resignation yesterday, without openly addressing the reason. “It seems to me that what is behind that letter is how little truth there is in left-wing politics in Spain, when it talks about a person and a character, it talks about a big lie, there was no truth at all,” he said. In this sense, he has criticized that the coalition government defined itself as “the most feminist in history and a champion against corruption and now all that is collapsing like a big lie.” He has said that the PP has a protocol for this type of complaints under the law approved by the Government, the only yes is yes. “We applied the same law that they promoted in the party, but it seems that it was a law full of hypocrisy, because while they were approving it, they had people with this type of behavior that they did not denounce.”
Gamarra has said that he had no news “at all” of the events, given that Errejón “was not part” of his circle. Yes, he has shown his “solidarity and support for the women who have reported this situation.”
