GARY LINEKER appeared in a rather savage mood just SECONDS after Match of the Day went live this past Saturday.
And Celtic hero Joe Hart couldn’t hide his shock after the presenter aimed a brutal dig at his fellow pundit!
Former Hoops No1 Hart has been a regular on the MOTD sofa this season.
The 37-year old retired from football at the end of last season having helped Celtic win a league and cup double.
Hart didn’t have long to wait to land a new role with the BBC snapping up the former England star as a pundit for their Euro 2024 coverage.
That role became a permanent one, with Hart now a regular feature across the BBC‘s programming this season.
The most prominent role is as a pundit on the flagship Saturday night highlights show, and he was one of the pundits this weekend just gone.
Hart was joined by former Manchester City teammate Micah Richards and presenter Lineker on this week’s panel.
But just seconds into the programme, Hart was left open mouthed as Lineker unleashed a savage dig at Richards’ expense.
Introducing the show, Lineker said: “It’s been a big day at both ends of the table. The top three and the bottom six all in actions.
“Two Premier League winners in the studio, Micah Richards and Joe Hart.
“Only one of them got relegated.”
Both Hart and Richards were all smiles as Lineker introduced them, but both seemed to be somewhat taken aback by the presenter’s brutal dig!
Hart was open mouthed and looked at the ground, while Richards’ expression turned to a rather stern one as he stared down Lineker, who finished his intro.
But it was all in good humour, as Richards was seen bursting into laughter as Lineker threw to the first highlights package of the programme.
The dig was, of course, at Richards’ expense with the defender having been relegated as an Aston Villa player.
Lineker and Richards are good pals and host a podcast, The Rest Is Football, together.
