After a few weeks of sliding down the rankings, Alabama football rose in the coaches top 25 poll after a shutout win over Missouri Saturday. The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 14 when the poll updated Sunday, moving up one position.
The UA defense led the way on Saturday, stifling any chance the Tigers, led by backup quarterback Drew Pyne most of the way, had. Missouri, after taking its second loss of the season, slipped six spots down to No. 23.
Alabama enters a bye week, before traveling to Baton Rouge to face LSU. Those Tigers also dropped precipitously in the coaches poll, after losing at Texas A&M.
LSU dropped nine places in the standings, down to No. 16. The Alabama game will essentially serve as a College Football Playoff elimination game.
The top end of the coaches poll didn’t move much. Oregon remained No. 1, followed by Georgia, Penn State and Ohio State, with Miami rounding out the top five.
Elsewhere in the SEC, Texas sits at No. 6 in the coaches poll, with Tennessee one spot behind the Longhorns. Texas A&M moved up three spots to No. 11, and Ole Miss sat steady at No. 18.
Vanderbilt dropped out of the coaches poll top 25 after losing to Texas.
