One teen is dead and another airlifted to the hospital following a Sunday crash in Blount County.
The wreck happened at 11:30 a.m. on Alabama 132, about one mile west of Altoona.
Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Reginal King said a 16-year-old was driving a Chevrolet Malibu that left the road, struck an embankment, overturned and caught fire.
The driver was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
A 15-year-old passenger also was not using a seat belt, King said. The passenger was ejected and flown to an undisclosed hospital.
Troopers do not release the names of juveniles. He said the person who died was from Springville.
The investigation is ongoing.
