In a recent interview with Variety’s in the game of Know Your Lines, Zoe Saldaña spilled some intriguing tea. While many Marvel stars are expected to don their capes well into their 90s, it seems Saldaña might be ready to leave Gamora behind.
She recently made it clear that after 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, she doesn’t see herself returning to the Marvel universe. Although she’s immensely proud to have been part of such a brilliant creative team, she admits she has some regrets, wishing she could have pushed harder for her portrayal of Gamora. That said, she now feels it’s time to pass the baton, allowing someone else to take the character to new heights. In a Variety cover story, she revealed,
Let it be a brown girl to play Gamora.Give that opportunity to a woman of color and see what the new Gamora is going to bring to the table. Like I brought Nyota Uhura to the table with Nichelle Nichols’ blessing.
