Fans Feel They Owe Kendrick Lamar an Apology After Watching a Humiliating Lil Wayne Moment From His Concert

Coming fresh off the feud with Drake, it looks like Kendrick Lamar has made himself another enemy – Lil’ Wayne. Lil’ Wayne has been wanting to headline the Super Bowl since time immemorial. Thus, when Kendrick Lamar was chosen to headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, Lil Wayne was obviously very unhappy with it all.

While the reception to this news was mostly positive, some expressed their disappointment with the choice, claiming that Lil’ Wayne would have been better for the gig. However, after seeing the rapper’s performance at the Lil’ Weezyana Fest, people might be taking their words back.

The Super Bowl’s musical performances are always something to look forward to. Fans who enjoy the hip-hop genre are in for a treat as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of our generation will be making his way to the Super Bowl next year.

Kendrick Lamar has been handpicked to headline the halftime show. While he has performed at the Super Bowl once before, this is the first time he is going to be the main act of the event.

Lamar stated (via BBC),

Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.

There is no denying that Lamar’s on-stage presence and his catchy tunes all work together in perfect harmony to create a performance people will never forget. Thus, the HUMBLE. rapper seems to be a great choice for the 2025 Super Bowl.

The game will take place on February 09, 2025.

Was Lil Wayne a Better Choice?

While the majority seems to be on Lamar’s side, there were a few who weren’t satisfied with the selection and were rooting for Lil Wayne instead.

Recently, the rapper attended the Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans and his performance was live-streamed on Amazon Music. During his performance, he threw shade at the Super Bowl for overlooking him when it came to picking a headliner.

He stated (via Cinema Blend),

When the first Super Bowl was here I made sure I bought tickets at the beginning of the season. I did the same when I moved to Miami, and I was wishing my team made it again…That moment, I told myself, ‘I want to be onstage at the Super Bowl one day in front of my mom.’ And I worked my ass off to get in that fucking position. It was ripped away from me. But this mother*cking moment right here? They can’t take [this] man.

Needless to say, Lil’ Wayne is pretty salty over losing the gig to Lamar. His words only fuelled the anger of his fans who wanted him to be on the Super Bowl stage. However, when clips from his performance at the Lil’ Weezyana Fest found their way to the Internet, people started second-guessing themselves.

It looks like Lil Wayne is going through a rough period. Back in April, he received backlash for his performance at WrestleMania XL. While he was introduced as “The Greatest Rapper of All Time,” the reception couldn’t have been farther from the title.

In the video uploaded to WWE’s YouTube channel, we can see netizens criticizing Lil Wayne. While one stated, “Lil Wayne sounded like me doing a parody of him while rapping,” another wrote, “The way I died laughing when he came out sounding like the nerd emoji after being introduced as the greatest rapper of all time.”

There was also support for Lamar in the comment section. @BenjiClips614 wrote, “Kendrick is PERFECT for live shows.. he brings his music to LIFE in every way from the band to his voice to the performance he can put on,” and @miltondauce4217 stated, “Just here after Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl 59 performer. and I can now see why.” It looks like 2024 hasn’t been too kind to Lil Wayne!
