Here are AL.com’s SEC football players of the week for Week 9 of the 2024 season:
Offense
Jarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn — Hunter — a senior from Philadelphia, Miss. — helped Auburn grind out a 24-10 victory at Kentucky, rushing for 278 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. The yardage total was fourth-highest in program history, and part of a 366-yard rushing night for the Tigers as a team.
Defense
Suntarine Perkins, LB, Ole Miss — Perkins was in the Oklahoma backfield all day during a 26-14 victory over Oklahoma. The sophomore from Raleigh, Miss., totaled 11 tackles, five tackles for loss and four sacks as the Rebels shut out the Sooners in the second half.
Special teams
Tyler White, P, Texas A&M — White helped the Aggies win the battle of field position in a 38-23 comeback victory over LSU on Saturday. The redshirt freshman from Southlake, Texas, punted five times for an average of 48.4 yards with a long of 54 and three of at least 50 yards and placed four of his punts inside the 20-yard line.
