One Piece has been dominating the anime world for years. While Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece always fluctuates in ratings, the latest arc has seen a constant stream of above-average reviews. However, the return of one Big Three anime has threatened its position as the top shounen series.
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Part 3-The Conflict began airing on October 5, 2024, and immediately caught the attention of otakus. Both One Piece and Bleach immediately became the center of attention as it slowly became clear which one among the two was rising to the top.
One Piece Loses in the Highest-Rated Fall Anime Competition
Bleach: TYBW Part 3 has released four episodes so far and it’s already far ahead in the game as compared to One Piece. The season has received a rating of 9.02 on My Anime List, while One Piece holds an average rating of 8.72. Episodes 1-4 of Bleach: TYBW Part 3 have received individual ratings of 9.0, 9.3, 9.2 and 9.3 respectively.
One Piece on the other hand, has only received two episodes in October, namely 1121 and 1122, and they have received IMDB ratings of 9.2 and 9.6, respectively. While One Piece might have won the battle, it has lost the war. But at the same time, you have to keep in mind that the overall rating of One Piece is an average of all of its 1100+ episodes, whereas the current Bleach rating is only based on the latest four episodes.
Another source reported the highest-rated fall anime from 2024, in which Bleach: TYBW Part 3 dominated the list with an overall rating of 9.04. One Piece, on the other hand, is on break till April 2025, which completely eliminates it from the competition.
One Piece Cult is Defeated Despite the Review Bombing War
With the latest episodes of Bleach, the anime has been on a roll, as each episode has earned high ratings. However, One Piece fans recently review-bombed a Bleach episode. Episode 1 of part 3 received a high rating of 9.7 on IMDB, especially due to the battle between Ichibei and Yhawach and the teaser of Aizen’s return as the cliffhanger.
However, One Piece fans posted unnecessary and empty negative reviews of the episode and brought down its rating to 9.1 on IMDB. Currently, the episode’s ratings stand at 9.0. This move from One Piece fans initiated a war between Bleach and One Piece fandoms as each competed to see whose episodes got the highest ratings.
But as Bleach: TYBW Part 3 emerges as the solid favorite in the Fall 2024 anime season, it is clear that the hostile rivalry from Eiichiro Oda fanatics was useless. One Piece is bound to cause another splash when it returns in April 2025, but till then, Bleach will be the reigning anime.
