This is a quick guide on how to beat Catherina the Bounty Queen. This is a recurring boss battle that will challenge the party’s combat skills on multiple occasions; however, it is worth noting that there is not much to know about this optional boss and the initial strategy can be repeated to achieve victory.
Catherina the Bounty Queen has a few weaknesses the party can exploit and players should pay close attention to the levels of each party member. Being a recurring boss also means that her level will gradually increase after each fight, and is the perfect motivation.
The Protagonist and the Party can encounter Catherina the Bounty Queen in three separate encounters throughout the Gauntlet Runner area. As players make their way to the Giant Sandworm’s Nest, Catherina will appear and fight the party at level 22. After defeating her there, the party can press on to Port Brilehaven and the final encounter will be hosted at the Forsaken Tower where she will be at her best.
Studio Zero wanted to make Catherina the Bounty Queen an annoying enemy to fight in Metaphor: ReFantazio and it worked. Players tend to ignore the benefits they receive because they can be quite a nuisance. Defeating Catherina leads to more rewards for winning each battle. Being a recurring boss does not do her any favors since the key strategy to beat her once can be repeated in future encounters.
Catherina the Bounty Queen will become much more powerful after each encounter. Players should prioritize ranking up their levels and archetype fast to deal more and take enough damage from Catherina the Bounty Queen. After each encounter, the enemy boss will not let up and showcase their power boost to give the party a difficult time in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Tip
Catherina the Bounty Queen is susceptible to fire skills and players can keep spamming until she drops.
Fire skills can easily hurt Catherina the Bounty Queen and the Protagonist can be her worst nightmare with the Wizard archetype assigned. This optional boss shares the same weakness as Treebeast Alento, players can ignore using different attacks and focus on using multiple fire skills to exploit their weaknesses and end the battle quickly.

Catherina the Bounty Queen is not a difficult boss but can be annoying. Players can overlook that fighting the same boss in multiple encounters can be time-consuming but shouldn’t put past the worthwhile rewards they can accumulate that will benefit them later on.
