Before Endorsing Trump, Megyn Kelly’s Controversial “Bra-burning” Comment about Sexual Harassment Got Her an Army of Haters

Megyn Kelly is known for being unapologetic and has never shied away from a controversy, which is a quality that many admire, despite her previous scandals. Years ago, she had a turbulent interaction with Donald Trump and was also involved in the Roger Ailes case.

Who would’ve thought that these separate instances would come together and stir the pot even further? Her alliance with Trump is the beginning of it all, so let’s take a look at how Kelly’s past statements have once again captured media’s attention.

After their public spat in 2015, Megyn Kelly is now endorsing Donald Trump in 2024 (via ABC News). In the almost-decade-old debate, she pressed Trump for his treatment of women and became a target of his supporters.

Kelly questioned his stance and opinion about women, and brought up his past comments, where according to her he called them “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals.” During the interaction, the former president was visibly offended by her line of questioning.

He made an infamous remark about Kelly and said “ You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever” which only escalated the situation and it kept getting hostile from there onwards (via CNN).

Her recent move has puzzled everyone, but some are speculating that it’s a strategic play to tap into a more conservative audience. Whereas, others are saying that she is trying to reclaim the narrative by standing alongside a leader, who aligns with her view of freedom and values.

The Controversial Comments Made By Megyn Kelly

In her recent endorsement, Megyn Kelly even said that Donald Trump is the “protector of women,” which seems like a 180 from her previous claims. Even her past comments about women have been controversial because while describing her alleged sexual harassment experience with former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, her choice of words didn’t sit well with everyone (via Intelligencer).

After claiming that she didn’t want to file a lawsuit about the same and simply wanted to “make it stop,” she asserted that most women want the same and “don’t tend to want to make this into some bra-burning moment. They just want to do their jobs.”

This statement was met with backlash because it seemed like Kelly was unaware of the severity of workplace harassment, and she did not see eye to eye with the women who were more vocal in advocating for change.

Moreover, her high-profile involvement with the Ailes case, which eventually led to his departure from Fox, was quite contradictory because she was one of the most prominent figures to speak against him.

But it seems like Trump and Kelly have put water under the bridge, and started anew. It may have brought some criticism her way, but after a long career in media and politics, one tends to grow a thick skin and remain unphased.
