CHICAGO (WKBN) — Youngstown State men’s basketball opened up the season with an 80-60 win over Chicago State on Saturday night to give new head coach Ethan Faulkner his first career victory.
The Penguins were led by Sacred Heart transfer Nico Galette’s 20 points and nine rebounds while Gabe Dynes collected 11 points, six rebounds and seven blocks.
Juwan Maxey (14 points) and Ty Harper (12 points) also both reached double figures for YSU.
As a team, YSU shot 43% from the field and 5-19 from the three-point line during the win.
YSU improves to 1-0 on the season and will travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State with a 6 p.m. tipoff on Monday, Nov. 11.
