HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – Two Kennedy Catholic state champions, Layke Fields and Monique Vincent, made their college choices official on the first day of the 2024-25 signing period.
Vincent, who averaged 14 points, 4 assists and 3 steals per game as a junior, is headed to Seaton Hill on the Division II level.
“It’s just really nice to know that I’m a part of the legacy, and I’m going to continue it on to be able to sign for our grade,” Vincent said. “I mean, signing by my best friend has been like a huge thing for us, and there are others in my class who will sign too, so just being a part of the legacy here at Kennedy is just an amazing thing.”
Fields, the reining Pennsylvania 2A Player of the Year, made her Division I commitment to Robert Morris official.
“I get a lot of support from the community, and I’m so grateful for that and being able to work,” Fields said. “I’m grateful for them to be able to come to my games this season and be able to watch me do what I do at the next level.”
Now, this duo will look to add a third consecutive state championship to wrap up their illustrious careers.
“There’s still pressure on that for, you know, getting another state championship, but I feel like there’s a little less pressure knowing that I know where I’m going and I’m settled in with Robert Morris,” Fields said.
Kennedy Catholic girls basketball begins its title defense when the season opens up on Dec. 2 as they travel to take on Cardinal O’Hara (NY).
