Deal or No Deal viewers brand ITV show ‘fake’ and rage ‘Why do they act shocked?’

VIEWERS of Deal or No Deal have hit out at the game show after ‘uncovering’ a clue that everything isn’t as real as is portrayed.

The show, which was revived last year with Stephen Mulhern as host, is currently airing its second series on ITV and fans have already been very vocal about their feelings towards the show.

Each afternoon, the contestants come together in the hopes of one of them walking away with a huge £100,000 jackpot prize.

At the start of each episode, the contestant’s names flash up on the big screen as they wait to determine who will be the lucky player to face off against the Banker that day.

However, it is this process that has led fans to quip that the show is “fake” after uncovering a huge clue as to why the selection process isn’t as random as is made out.

Eagle-eyed ITV viewers were quick to point out that whoever is chosen to play that day’s episode of Deal or No Deal always has a family member present and sitting on the front row of the audience.

It has left them baffled as they question whether the players are actually “surprised” as filming for each episode kicks off or if their reactions are simply to play up to the cameras.

Writing on X – formerly Twitter – one viewer asked: “Just wondering if it’s a surprise who‘s playing? How come their family/friends are there?”

Another then added: “Why do the #DealOrNoDeal contestants act shocked when their names are picked to play when a relative is sitting in the audience, or is the audience made up of loads of relatives of the contestants?”

As a third went on to say: “Silly question, but if it is a surprise which contestant is picked, how is their family member always in the right place in the audience?

“If a contestant is chosen at random, how come friends/family are already there and in the front row? #DealOrNoDeal.”

Before a fourth chimed in: “You can tell it’s all fake…cos pretty much every contestant all act the same way.”

Whenever a contestant is playing, they regularly turn to their loved ones for advice and support throughout the game in order to get some input from those closest to them.

They often help with the decision-making process when it comes to big-money offers on the table from the Banker.

Throughout their time on the programme, contestants are kept together and live at the same hotel throughout filming.

When chatting to Stephen on the programme, the players regularly share anecdotes about the behind-the-scenes antics they get up to.

Across the ITV reboot, the players have continually referred to each other as “a family” as a result of the close surroundings they find themselves in.

Since filming wrapped, they have even met up with one another for big group catch-ups with some of the cast sharing photos to X.
