Footage from the scene shared by Fife Jammer Locations show multiple fires being lit on the road outside the BP petrol station.

Ugly scenes in Sighthill showed the gang of youths target the garage by aiming fireworks towards the forecourt.

Dark smoke is seen pluming from the area in front of the station.

Projectiles were also fired at cars on the street with road signs and railing being thrown in the way of traffic.

Buses in the area were diverted with dozens of officers responding to reports of violent disorder across the capital.

Lothian Buses have temporarily withdrawn their services due to “antisocial behaviour.”

It comes after a night of chaos across Edinburgh after rampaging neds brought more bonfire night mayhem to the city.

Officers with shields and batons are facing down gangs in Niddrie who were launching fireworks at motors and setting wheelie bins ablaze.

There was also a tense stand-off where one person was bundled to the ground by officers who were blocking people from passing at a flashpoint spot.

Some innocent bystanders were also caught up in the mayhem as thugs launched bricks at police and set fire to more wheelie bins.

MP for Edinburgh Ian Murray described the scenes as “disgraceful and unacceptable” amid further disorder in the Moredun and Gracemount areas of the city.

Gracemount Drive was closed off with cops diverting traffic away from the area.

A police helicopter moved over the area later into the evening with reports of tense scenes between riot police and gangs.

The Guy Fawkes disorder comes just days after Halloween fireworks mayhem in the same community.

At the weekend Chief Superintendent David Robertson said the police will leave “no stone unturned” to find those responsible for the firework-related violence in Niddrie and elsewhere on Halloween.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said earlier this evening: “Moonbeam resources are assisting local officers in the Niddrie area following reports of youths throwing fireworks at vehicles.

“Niddrie Main Road is currently closed between Duddingston Road West and Duddingston Park South. The public are asked to avoid the area.”

Marauding youths – some barely old enough for secondary school – covered their faces as they hurled rockets with cops seemingly powerless to stop them.

More than 30 hooded teens ran rampant in Glasgow’s Pollokshields where a council blunder meant a mooted pyro restriction zone was not in place.
