LEWIS Capaldi’s actor brother will be able to take inspiration from his superstar sibling in his first movie role – as it’s a film about Tourette’s.

Anthony, 29, has been cast in upcoming flick I Swear, the life story of John Davidson who was diagnosed at 15 and awarded an MBE from the Queen in 2019 for his tireless campaigning.

The brothers are both in showbiz.

And the rising star has the perfect sounding board for the part – as Lewis, 27,  revealed he had Tourette’s in 2022 after suffering from tics, forcing him to take a break from performing.

Anthony will play a character named Andy alongside an all-star Scots cast that includes Ozark favourite Peter Mullan, 64, Trainspotting’s Shirley Henderson, 58, and Outlander’s Steven Cree, 41.

A showbiz insider said: “Lewis isn’t the only talented member of the Capaldi family.

“Anthony is picking up momentum and landing a movie part is always a big milestone.”

After smaller projects, the actor got his big break last year when he played Barnaby ‘Baz’ Tunworth in a gruesome Casualty storyline where his character had been gored by a bull.

The shock scenes – which showed his exposed intestines – were caused after he and a pal provoked the animal for a social media stunt.

He had previously featured on BBC Scotland film Haggis and appeared in Lewis’ music video Someone You Loved – which has racked up nearly one billion views on YouTube.

I Swear is a biopic, directed by Nanny McPhee’s Kirk Jones, covering the journey of Davidson, from Galashiels, who rose to prominence in 1989 in the BBC documentary John’s Not Mad.

Robert Aramayo, who starred in Netflix drama Behind Her Eyes, will play the trailblazing campaigner who raised the profile of the illness at a time when it was still very misunderstood.

The 53-year-old, who now works as a caretaker, said: “Working on this project has been absolutely mind-blowing.

“The cast and crew have been 100 per cent committed and respectful of my condition and spending time with Kirk and Rob has been an amazing experience, even if sometimes emotional.

“This film is about my experience living with Tourette’s Syndrome and I only pray that it brings more understanding and acceptance for those living with Tourette’s and allows them to go on and fulfil their dreams.”

John is now a mentor for young people with the incurable condition and regularly visits young sufferers, offering one-to-one support.

He works with schools, the police, medics and community groups to help raise awareness.
