A vehicle carrying a female gunshot victim collided with another vehicle early Friday morning in Fairfield in an incident where six people were injured, including a toddler, authorities said Tuesday.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to 301 59th St. in Fairfield around 1:24 a.m. Friday on a report of a traffic accident and a person shot, the office said.
Deputies found a wrecked vehicle and people lying in the roadway of Avenue C near 59th Street.
The victims included a man, a woman, a girl and a toddler boy, the sheriff’s office said.
The victims were taken to UAB Hospital and Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At the scene, deputies found another wrecked vehicle on Avenue C near 60th Street that struck a parked vehicle that was unoccupied.
A woman suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound was found at the scene. She was taken to UAB Hospital by Birmingham Fire & Rescue Service personnel.
A man was also found with minor injuries. He was treated at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicles collided with each other, the sheriff’s office said.
No arrests or charges have been filed in the case as of Tuesday afternoon, and the investigation was ongoing.
