Eli Gold reveals worst SEC stadium to call games

Eli Gold revealed the worst SEC stadium to call college football games.

The former Voice of the Crimson Tide, who made his weekly appearance on the “Beat Everyone” podcast, said Jordan-Hare Stadium is the worst.

Before you rush to judgement, it’s not what you think. It isn’t a hate, rivalry or fan thing. It’s more about broadcast location.

“I’m not saying it because it is Auburn, trust me,” Gold said. “When we used to go there and work there from the 40-yard line, it was spectacular.”

During a renovation of the stadium, the press box was moved to the end zone, which, he said, makes it even more difficult to call a game. He called the Kick 6 from the 40-yard line. Gravedigger on the other hand? He called that from 160 yards away.

“Dallas is not great,” he said of AT&T Stadium, “because, again, you’re in the end zone. But at least you got a good angle. You’re in the corner of the end zone. You got the super-sized TV screen that you can cheat on and watch the play that way.”

His favorite stadium is Foxborough, home of the New England Patriots. All media outlets broadcast from the 50-yard line, 40 rows off the field.
