More rain? Focus shifts to south Alabama on Sunday

More rain will be possible across Alabama on Sunday, but the threat for flooding is easing for parts of the state.

But not south Alabama. A flood watch remains in effect for the southeast corner of Alabama, and the National Weather Service was also concerned about the potential for flooding along the coast.

The weather service said some parts of Henry and Houston counties in south Alabama got 6 to 10 inches of rain overnight:

The remnants of what was Hurricane Francine continued to produce dreary skies and scattered rain in different parts of the state on Sunday.

A flood watch will remain in effect through Sunday evening for the southeast Alabama counties of Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston

The weather service said the rain should move out from east to west today.

However, it’s a different story along the coast, the weather service said numerous showers and storms are expected today, and there will be a limited risk for flash flooding:

Forecasters said 2 to 3 inches of rain will be possible in coastal areas through today.

Drier weather is on the way for Alabama, but for some areas will experience it sooner than others. Rain chances will still be on the high side in southwest on Monday, according to weather service forecasts. However, parts of eastern and northern Alabama could actually see a day with no rain.
