Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson snaps up Glasgow flat ‘not far from Rangers’ home’ after luxury mansion sold for £3.25m

SIR ALEX FERGUSON has snapped up a posh flat in Glasgow — to be close to his brother and his ‘other team’ Rangers.

The former Manchester United chief has bought the property in the west end to spend more time in the city where he was born.

His brother Martin is a director at Airdrie and the new pad is just across the River Clyde from Fergie’s spiritual home of Govan.

Of course, that also means he’s not far from his old club at Ibrox either.

Legendary boss Ferguson also sold his luxury mansion back in April after slashing £250,000 off the price.

He put the £3.5million property in Cheshire on the market following the death of his wife Cathy.

The five-bedroom home came complete with a stylish open plan kitchen and games room.

But after struggling to shift the property, he reduced the price to £3.25m in February in a bid to offload it.

The property was then snapped up by an unknown buyer.

Photos inside revealed a dazzling hallway chandelier, en-suite bathrooms and perfectly manicured lawns.

Sir Alex, who also managed Aberdeen, moved to a £1.2m house near to his son Darren so he could be closer to his grandchildren in a Cheshire village.

But he’s now re-invested some more of his cash in his home city.

And he isn’t alone in making big moves in the west end property market either.

We revealed how Rangers captain James Tavernier had swooped for a £1 MILLION flat in the affluent Park Circus area of the city – one of Scotland’s priciest home hotspots.

The 32-year-old invested in the luxury apartment through a firm set up with wife Melissa.

Their latest property bought last April is near where bra tycoon Michelle Mone previously had a property of her own.

And it is close to where Outlander prequel Blood of my Blood was filmed earlier this year.

Company documents revealed his JTMT Properties firm set up with wife Melissa, 32, has assets of £3,079,838.

Among their five investment properties include homes in Poole, Dorset – not far from where James’ brother Marcus plays at Bournemouth.

Tavernier was benched for the Europa League draw against Conference League winners Olympiacos in Greece last week.

But a source said: “Speculation has been at fever pitch over the Gers skipper’s future.

“But regardless of his next move career-wise this buy appears to show he places a high value on his links to Glasgow.”

Tav and Melissa, 32, wed in 2018.
