Two people, dog rescued in one of two fires in East Haven

A firefighter was injured when two people and a dog were rescued during one of two fires reported in East Haven on Tuesday afternoon that involved injuries.

The first fire was reported shortly after 4 p.m. at a home at 91 Lenox St. where crews responded and found the front porch ablaze, according to the East Haven Fire Department.

Fire officials said the fire was also burning in the area of the home’s gas meters and was extending to the interior of the home. Two people and a dog were brought out of the home by fire crews.

One firefighter was injured during the incident.

The fire was brought under control after about 20 minutes, according to fire officials.

Crews from the Branford and North Branford Fire Departments were called for mutual aid. The fire remains under investigation.

Just before 5 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to the Circle Lanes bowling alley at 525 Main St. on the report of a fire and explosion on the roof involving an air conditioner unit.

The fire was out by the time crews arrived. Firefighters disconnected the power and ensured the initial fire did not extend anywhere in the building.

According to fire officials, a maintenance worker suffered burns to his face and arms from the electrical explosion. The incident is being investigated.
