A man accused of illegally trafficking firearms was reportedly found with several guns, including an assault rifle and a “ghost gun,” when authorities searched his home in Hartford on Wednesday.
Angel Fortis-Galarza, 27, faces charges of possession of an assault weapon, possession of a ghost gun, possession of a large-capacity magazine, illegal transfer of pistols and possession of a controlled substance, according to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department.
Boisvert said investigators carried out a search and seizure warrant at Fortis-Galarza’s Maple Avenue home after an investigation revealed that he was allegedly involved in trafficking firearms. The search was conducted by the Hartford Police Community Crime Suppression Team with assistance from the department’s Emergency Response Team.
During the search, Boisvert said authorities found an AR-15 assault rifle, a Glock 26 containing 15 rounds, a Harrington and Richardson handgun, a Taurus G3 9mm equipped with a laser sight containing 14 rounds and a .300 ACC caliber “ghost gun.” Investigators also found 280 .223 rounds of ammunition, 114 5.56 rounds, an AR-15 drum magazine containing 52 .223 rounds, an M16 speed loader, several magazines and extended magazines, 285 9mm rounds, two spent casings, 222 live rifle rounds, a 30-round magazine containing 24 rounds, 45 .357 rounds and 1.5 pounds of marijuana, according to Boisvert.
Fortis-Galarza was arrested following the search and transported to the Hartford Police Detention Division.
