While Marvel Studios has produced Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films, Sony Pictures still owns the rights to the character and related villains. The two studios had struck a deal to allow the character to appear in the MCU. However, now another deal seems to be in the works, with more Holland appearances after Spider-Man 4.

Kevin Feige Rumored To Be Working On A New Deal With Sony For Spider-Man

Tom Holland was last seen in the MCU swinging across New York City after the whole world forgot the existence of Peter Parker. The blockbuster success of Spider-Man: No Way Home gave a boost to the MCU which seemed to be slacking after the pandemic with their streaming offerings.

Holland first appeared as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. Despite Sony Pictures having the rights to the character and his villains, Kevin Feige seemed to strike a deal with the studio to allow them to include him in the MCU. Marvel Studios also produced the three Spider-Man films and he also appeared in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

According to the latest scoop by industry insider Daniel Richtman, Feige and Sony are reportedly working on a new deal for Holland to appear in more MCU titles after the upcoming Spider-Man 4. Fans seem to love this news and have expressed their approval.

The deal reportedly also includes Kevin Feige being in charge of solo Spider-Man films featuring Holland instead of Sony. This deal could possibly control where Holland would appear and if his Spider-Man could even be a part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

What Does The New Spider-Man Deal Mean For Tom Holland?

After the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the future of Tom Holland as the web-slinger seemed to be unclear as his deal with Marvel and Sony was reportedly over. While rumors of a new three-picture deal circulated on the Internet, Holland denied it at the time and said that the contract was only open for negotiations (via THR).

However, his upcoming solo film Spider-Man 4 got a new update as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was confirmed to helm the project. This implied that a new deal was struck between Marvel and Sony for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

If the rumored new deal were to go through, Holland would not just be part of huge Avengers titles but also make cameos in upcoming Marvel properties like The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the X-Men films. Fans could potentially see a Deadpool and Spider-Man team-up as in the comics.

The new deal could also determine whether Sony would be able to include him in their Spider-Man universe (SSU). With the Venom films and other misfires like Morbius and Madame Web, a potential crossover seems to be in Sony’s plan. However, the new deal might or might not keep him away from the low-rated SSU.
