Smash-hit drama show’s spin-off axed by streamer after just two series on air

A POPULAR spin-off drama series has been cancelled after just two seasons.

A third series following Pretty Little Liars: Summer School was previously in the works, but the streaming service Max has decided not to move forward with it.

The first season of the spin-off was titled Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.

It followed a new group of characters as they navigated the sinister secrets of the small town of Millwood, five years after the events of the original Pretty Little Liars series.

The reboot’s second season, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, came out this May – and was available for Brits to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Season two ended with a dramatic twist, revealing the identity of the terrifying villain who had been tormenting the five Liars.

Just as fans thought they’d seen the worst, the finale teased the arrival of a new threat, as a mysterious group of girls wearing masks was seen stalking the corridors of the high school.

This chilling cliffhanger left many eagerly anticipating what was to come in the third season.

But now the twist will never be revealed.

The series starred Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, and Maia Reficco as the next generation of Liars.

They were joined by Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Alex Aiono, Jordan Gonzalez, and Elias Kacavas.

Max released a statement sharing the news that the show had been axed, saying: “While Max will not be moving forward with a third season of Pretty Little Liars, we are so grateful to our co-creators, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, as well as the team at Warner Bros Television, for reintroducing fans to this new iteration of liars who band together to fight the latest creepy villain terrifying Millwood.

“Their unique and modern creative vision – combined with the immense talent of our cast and crew – gave the series a fun, horror-filled point of view that paid tribute to its original Rosewood roots.”

Fans of the show took to social media to express their disappointment, with many asking for a change of heart from the streamer.

One person tweeted: “WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ARE CANCELLING PRETTY LITTLE LIARS ORIGINAL SIN AND NOT MAKING A THIRD SEASON?”

Another fumed: “Someone put Friends on another streaming platform so I can cancel my Max subscription for cancelling Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. F**k Max.”
