A woman wanted in Massachusetts was arrested by Connecticut State Police over the weekend when she led authorities on a pursuit into Connecticut on a flat tire before she was apprehended following a foot chase.
Troopers were contacted by the Monson Police Department in Massachusetts on Saturday just before 12:30 p.m. and asked for help stopping a woman who was “possibly” driving under the influence of drugs and was wanted for an incident reported in Monson, according to Connecticut State Police.
The woman was in a black Toyota RAV4 with a flat tire that was being driven on the rim, state police said. She was heading south on Route 32 into Stafford.
A responding trooper located the Toyota heading west on Route 319 and saw multiple Monson police cruisers following behind, state police said. The trooper got behind the Toyota and activated the cruiser’s lights and sirens.
According to state police, the driver pulled over and stopped partially in the right lane and the shoulder. She then got out and ran into a wooded area, state police said.
Authorities directed the woman to stop, but she kept running, according to state police. She was apprehended and put in handcuffs by state police and Monson officers following a brief foot pursuit.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Tiffany Marie Cahl of Monson, according to state police.
State police said Cahl was asked to take a field sobriety test, but she refused. She asked for medical attention and was taken to an area hospital.
After being evaluated and released, Cahl was transported to Troop C in Tolland and charged with interfering with an officer and reckless driving. She was released on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 2.
