A woman and a teenager were taken to the hospital after a car collided with a scooter in New Canaan on Wednesday night.
Emergency crews responded to South Avenue, near the intersection with the northbound entrance ramp of the Merritt Parkway, just after 7:30 p.m. on the report of a motor vehicle accident involving a sedan and a Vespa scooter, according to Dep. Chief Andrew Walsh of the New Canaan Police Department.
Walsh said a number of agencies responded to the crash to assist, including the New Canaan Fire Department and EMS as well as the Stamford Police Department, Connecticut State Police and the Darien Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
A preliminary investigation showed that the driver of a sedan was in the process of turning left onto the northbound ramp of the Merritt Parkway from South Avenue when the vehicle collided with the scooter, according to Walsh.
Walsh said the operator of the scooter, a 17-year-old boy from Stamford, was taken in an ambulance to Norwalk Hospital. The driver of the sedan, a 53-year-old Danbury woman, was also taken to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact New Canaan police at 203-594-3500.
